Who the hell are you?

My name is Chris Cameron and I am a professional aspiring freelance writer. This site focuses on humor, but op-ed and sports are other subjects I write about.

I have been writing in some form or another all my life. In school I took all kinds of arts and music classes as well as ones on writing. In college I was a reporter on the school newspaper and created my own column that reported on news in the Greek community (Fraternities and sororities).

In the late 90’s I ran a fantasy sports website called The Fantasy Sports Corner. I was the first in the genre to have a Fantasy All-Star team and even a simulated game. I was also first to name Players of the Week, run a weekly journal of my actual fantasy team through the season, and do live reporting on trade deadline days.

At that time I also wrote about fantasy hockey on a website called Hockey Rage. It was short-lived but it was the first time I got hired to write.

Around 2003 I started writing essays and things on my mind as well as news parodies. I never really had a place for them until I discovered Associated Content on Black Friday, 2006, and then later my blog.

I wrote thirty-five articles for Associated Content, five of which I did get paid for. They actually were the only ones I asked for payment for, the rest I just gave them the rights for free. Some were humor, some serious, some about sports.

In March I created ‘Nothing to See Here’, my first humor blog. Unfortunately, the site name and the domain name weren’t the same so I moved on to ‘Angry Seafood’, a much catchier title. It also helped that the domain name was available.

So what is Angry Seafood?

This is my blog of original humor. I do not talk about the boring things in my personal life or my job I am doing before I can quit and write for a living. Our lives are very mundane and boring, myself included. You come to sites like mine to not have to read about someone’s kid’s birthday party or the bad day at work they had.

The posts usually are short, about 200-300 words but don’t be surprised to find occasional stuff that is longer. A lot of my better work from the old blog is here, so most of the stuff before October 22, 2007 is longer in length.

My humor is odd in that it has to grow on you like fine wine or perhaps a fungus or mold.

Is this for fun or are you serious?

It is both. I love to write and I enjoy entertaining people. The best part is unlike many people in the entertainment field there isn’t a childhood issue which drives me to perform. So many people are looking for acceptance in this industry. I just enjoy storytelling and goofing on things and people.

I guess you could say I seek acceptance of my work, which can be interpreted as an extension of me. This is true about wanting my material to be liked, we all want that. But I am not so naive that I believe what you think of my work is a reflection on what you think of me. They are two separate things.

But I am serious about this blog having something to do with breaking into the writing field in some way and establishing a career in the business. You never know where the road of opportunity can take you, but it is up to you to be ready.

Are you really a professional writer pretending to be an amateur?

I don’t think anyone would ask this, but these days you never know. Quite a few people on YouTube that were believed to be amateurs turned out to be professional actors and musicians with agents.

I wish this were the case. I get around 50-100 visits a day. Trust me if I had an agent, I would hope to have a ton more. If not I would fire them. I want my readers to know when I succeed in this way it will mean more of a guarantee I will be able to keep writing humor. I win, you win.

But technically I am a professional as I have been paid for my work.

Why do you make fun of things like Global warming, fifteen year-old alcoholics and God?

This page and this website are not the place to debate the merits of these issues but rather to point out the silliness in them as well as our belief system. We take things in life way too seriously.
